Bouncing

You know something is screwy with the weather when your 5 year old consistently inquires about swimming in March, and you have a hard time explaining why that isn't a good idea. Although we haven't hit the pool, the bounce house has made an early return to our yard. Lucy is at just about the perfect age - small enough that the thing must feel gigantic to her, but big enough that she can handle herself. She spent close to 2 hours in it on its first day out of storage. Stella has also been enjoying the bounce house, but with the purchase a new bike and a burning desire to jump rope backwards she tends to juggle activities.
Along with the bouncing and biking, we're also spending more time outside with friends. Summer nights have a tendency to evolve into large gatherings where the kids run in a pack and the parents forget they have kids except for an occasional "exchange" like this:
PARENT: has anyone seen CHILD?
Nobody acknowledges PARENT's inquiry. PARENT doesn't move, but does look about frantically before spotting CHILD in distance.
PARENT: Oh, there he is eating sand with a slotted spoon.
PARENT continues adult conversation about child's bad eating habits.
Good times.
