Smores and more

Stella is hosting house guests tonight. Her cousins Max, Maggie and Nolan have been abandoned by their jet setting parents who are attending a football game in Nebraska for the weekend. We spent the night at the Heuermann house last night, but decided to have everyone sleep over at our house tonight. We had a fire in the backyard and roasted hot dogs and made smores.

This was probably Stella's first proper smore making experience. She certainly enjoyed them, although she struggled with keeping her marshmallows out of the ashes in the fire pit. Like her mother, Stella liked the complete smore expereince - graham cracker, marshmallow and chocolate all assembled in a tidy sandwich. I've never cared for smores much and tend to identify with Nolan's approach: place marshmallow on roasting stick, look at marshmallow, look at fire, pull "raw" marshmallow off stick, eat marshmallow, repeat until told you can have no more marshmallows.
