Big Girl bed

Well, we've been through a number of milestones with Stella ranging from potty training to attending preschool, but last night we hit one that, for whatever reason, seems particularly significant to me. Stella is now sleeping in a full size twin bed. We stuck with the crib a bit longer than most, but she was always kind of fond of it so we figured we wouldn't force the issue. But, with a new baby on the way we decided it was time - not to mention that fact that her feet touched the end of the crib. As you might imagine, the princess mattress (yes, Sealy makes a mattress with princesses on it) was the only choice, even though we stressed that the princesses would have to be covered with sheets. Fortunately princess sheets are also readily available.

With a move in our future, we decided to hold off on the bed frame and bedroom set, so Stella will be sleeping on the floor for the time being. She actually seems to prefer that, so it works out well for everyone. At any rate, it is official, she is growing up - this was probably true even while she was crammed into the crib, but it seems a bit more real now.

Stella's intellectual development appears to to be progressing in tandem with the expansion of her sleeping arrangements. The other night we were trying to get her to eat her peas and offered the promise of a mini candy bar from the pantry if she polished off the peas. She suggested we skip the peas and just give her the candy bar. We declined, at which point she paused and said, "If you weren't here and nobody else was here I could sneak up there and get one. [Pause] That would be pretty cool." Yes indeed, that would be pretty cool, now eat your peas!
