Thanksgiving recap

I have been delaying my Thanksgiving write-up largely because of the old adage that if you don't have something nice to say, you shouldn't say anything at all.  In fairness, the lead up to Thanksgiving and the dinner itself were very nice.  Sara's parents were up and we dined with her sisters and their families.  Everyone had a great time - we even had a real cornucopia.  One of the high points was a craft exchange that Stella single handedly organized for everyone that was, by all accounts, a huge success.  We even got a little golf in the day before Thanksgiving - 65 and short sleeves.

But, the weather was short-lived, as was the good vibe of Thanksgiving weekend.  As we lounged around after the feast listening to the wind howl and watching the snowflakes start to fly, Sara began to distinguish herself from the chorus of voices commenting on how they ate too much.  She seemed very uncomfortable.  Fast forward about two hours - Sara, the girls and I are racing home, about 30 seconds from our driveway, when Sara begins to vomit into an over matched plastic bag.  Sara was knocked out all day Friday, even missing her Black Friday shopping pilgrimage.  Fortunately, she was coming around by the time time Lucy woke up at 2am on Saturday morning with a fever and tonsillitis, which incidentally forced us to cancel her tonsillectomy surgery on Monday.  By Sunday, we were settling into our well known and familiar "sore throat Lucy" routine.  This was fortunate because at about noon Sara called me from the grocery store to tell me Stella had lice.  In retrospect we are confident that the lice were acquired only hours before at the Mall of America, but nonetheless a somewhat remarkable scenario unfolded at our house over the next 24 hours.  Having no hair, I took the lice news in stride.  Having rather dense and lush hair, Sara did not.  Our sanitizing measures would have made the CDC proud.

Since then life has returned to normal.  We did pounce on the Christmas tree - up, decorated and ready for presents.  Below are some pictures of the happier moments.
