Road Trip part 2

Yesterday we made out way from Lake Gogebic to Baraga State Park.  The campsite last night was underwhelming.  Fortunately, we had a great day leading up to our arrival, so being pinned between US Hwy 45 and  the train tracks didn't seem so terrible.

On the way to Baraga we stopped at a copper mine (now defunct) and took a tour.  We actually went underground for quite awhile.  Stella was nervous at the start, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  Lucy was a trooper, although she was disappointed that her helmet lacked its own light.  Sara didn't care for the bats, and I didn't like the spots where I couldn't stand upright - something about that made the claustrophobia set in.  At any rate, it made for some good pictures and was quite interesting.  As you can see in the photo, the owners daughter was very friendly (unlike her mother) and decided to hop into our picture.

Due to the poor camping conditions, we opted to eat out last night.  We found a really nice "local" restaurant.  Food was excellent and we took home one of their signature items for today's breakfast - the giant sweet roll.  It was the largest sweet roll I have ever seen.

Today involved a good deal of driving.  We are currently in Grand Marias at a very nice city campground right on Lake Superior.  After we arrived we did some hiking and played on the beach.  Grand Marais has an end of the earth feel to it, but is quaint.  We like it here.

Tomorrow we are off to Mackinac Island.
