Road Trip Finale

We returned home last night from the Road Trip.  We are in one piece.  The van needs some cleaning and we were all happy to sleep in our own beds, but on the whole it was a fun trip for everyone.  Since last posting, we arrived for our three night stay on Mackinac Island.  We had a great time, although by day three the lack of automotive transport was wearing on us - carrying a 2-year old around everywhere gets old after awhile.  We ate our share of fudge, flew a kite for the first time, toured the old fort, went to a butterfly museum, circumnavigated the island by bike, got dressed up and had tea, and rode in a horse drawn carriage.

After we left Mackinac we swung back up to the southern shore of Superior and camped at this remote little campground north of Ironwood.  It was a beautiful spot and the water in the bay was warm enough that the girls actually swam in the lake.

So, it's a wrap - Road trip 2012 is in the books.
