Birthday number 5

Stella celebrated her 5th birthday on Thursday. We hosted a Candy Land themed party at our house. I think it was a success. It was certainly tiring. We had 11 guests and in addition to the usual present opening and cake eating, we decorated gingerbread men and went on a scavenger hunt for hidden candy. I shouldn't dismiss the cake so casually though. I have to say that it was probably the highlight of the party and one of Sara's greatest creations. In short, it was a candy covered and edible version of the Candy Land game board. There was enough sugar on this thing to put a person into orbit for several days.

Lucy was scarce during the party, but has been making her presence felt as of late. She seems much older these days, as evidenced by the two photos below. As you can see, she now eats corn on the cob like a grown-up and has the TV watching posture of a 60 year old pipe fitter watching a Steelers game - complete with hand occasionally jammed in top of diaper.
